Springtime is just around the corner which means it is almost time for Garstang Walking Festival and the programme for this year’s event is out now!
Taking place from Saturday 4 to Sunday 12 May, the festival is now in its 15th year and the team at the Visit Garstang centre is ready to take your bookings.
Coordinated by the Friends of Garstang Walking Festival and supported by Wyre Council there are nine days of walks for all ages and abilities. The festival gives everyone the chance to experience the best of springtime in the countryside around Garstang, the Forest of Bowland and the Fylde Plain.
This year’s programme includes a three day challenge, Nordic walking, one hour health walks, children’s activities, easy rambles, evening walks, dog friendly trails and everything in between.
Councillor Lynne Bowen, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Wyre Council comments, “The programme for this year’s festival is bigger and better than ever. There are almost 50 walks and activities to take part in. There really is something for everyone whether you are new to walking or a seasoned hiker. The festival features some of the most beautiful places in Wyre and gives you the chance to explore some parts you might not have been to before so I’d encourage everyone to get out and give the walks a go.”

If you would like to book a place on any of the walks you can book and pay by calling the Visit Garstang Centre on 01995 602125 or by visiting the centre in Cherestanc Square, Garstang, PR3 1EF.
There is also a Garstang Walking Festival Open Afternoon at the Visit Garstang Centre on Thursday 4 April from 2pm to 4pm. This is an opportunity for people to meet the Friends of the Festival and walk leaders, find out about the walks and make bookings. Plus members of the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue team will also be there with a display.
