Our spring time health and wellbeing event is taking place at Marine Hall on Sunday 7 April 2019, 10am-4pm and entry is free. All ages are welcome to come along and find out about healthier lifestyle choices and what local services are available to improve your wellbeing. Join us and a variety of health and wellbeing professionals for information and demonstrations.
Demonstrations in the centre of the main hall will include Dance Fitness who will be doing a display so you can learn how to reveal your inner show girl and dance like no one is watching all whilst keeping fit and heathy at the same time! There will also be a first aid demonstration followed by the Health and Harmony choir singing live and dancing from our local weekly tea dancers.
On stage there will be a live demonstration from Sophie Heald a qualified yoga instructor who will be presenting the benefits of yoga to the mind, body and soul. Ann Ward from Fleetwood and Blackpool Poetry will be reading out some creative writing poetry (Anne holds classes at Fleetwood Library).
Situated in the Waterfront area will be a prostate awareness slideshow and members of Men’s Shed association who provide support and guidance to individuals and groups across the UK in starting and managing Men’s Shed groups.
In the Wyre bar you can unwind and take part in hourly relaxation sessions from Mindsmatter who offer access to a range of brief therapeutic interventions, including courses & workshops, online programmes and face to face therapy, across localities to support people’s differing emotional needs.
Body shop will be offering free facials, O’ Brian’s pharmacy and Fleetwood YMCA will be carrying out health checks, along with the North West Coast Strategic Clinical Network who will be offering BMI tests. Fleetwood YMCA will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding their gym and fitness facilities. There will also be advice and tips for expecting mothers from Doula.
Available at a small charge will be a smoothie bar powered by bicycle, so you have to burn some calories and work hard before enjoying a delicious healthy smoothie along with healthy food on site.
Mark Broadhurst Service Director for Health and Wellbeing at Wyre Council comments: “This event is a great chance to find out more ways to stay healthy and improve your wellbeing. Come along to find out what’s happening in the community and what’s available. There’s lots going on to help families and individuals to become more active, meet new people and lead healthier lives.”
The ‘Health and Wellbeing Event’ is being supported by the Healthier Fleetwood initiative, supported by Wyre Council and Healthier Wyre.
