Youth Council

The youth council was officially founded in 2012 by Cllr Lynn Harter.  It was formalised after two years of informal meetings with a youth panel, and has grown from strength to strength since then and has now seen its sixth “young mayor” elected at its AGM October 2017.

Young mayors since 2012:

  • 2012 – 2013 Rory Mower
  • 2013 – 2014 Louise McCarthy
  • 2014 – 2015 Oliver Atkinson
  • 2015 – 2016 Myles Sutcliffe
  • 2016 – 2017 Lucas Brown
  • 2017 – 2018 Nathan Halford

Nathan is the present young mayor and he heads a team of 12 fellow youth councillors:

  • Oliver Atkinson
  • Lucas Brown
  • Chloe Bush (treasurer)
  • James Bush
  • Nathan Halford (young mayor)
  • Liam Hurley
  • Robert Ibison
  • Faye Mower (deputy young mayor)
  • Heather O Brien
  • Jorge Pollard (secretary)
  • Declan Stephen (social secretary)
  • Myles Sutcliffe

The youth council meets on the second Wednesday every other month at 6pm in the Police Station meeting room.

We can have up to 20 youth panelists, so if anyone is out there (within a three mile radius of Garstang), is aged 11-18 years old and would like to come along to join in with the present youth councillors to have a “voice” in your town, or for any further details please contact:
