Budget and precept 2016/17

In January every year, the Town Council has to agree its budget for the following year and set the precept. The precept is the total amount the Town Council will receive through the council tax.
At its Council meeting , held on 18 January 2016, the Council agreed, when considering income and expenditure, the shortfall of 4,373 should be met by increasing the precept to 70,010 (65,637 +4,373) rather than dipping into Council reserves.
This means:
For a Band D property for 2016/17; £70,010/1672.68 (units) = £41.85 compared to
For a Band D property for 2015/16; £65,637/1658.03 (units) = £39.59  (an increase of £2.26 on 2015/16 for a Band D property).
