Many thanks to David Brewin for putting out all the poppies along the High Street and throughout Town and for organising the collections and sorting out the arrangements on the day. Also my sincere thanks to Rev. Evan Gray for a poignant and very moving sermon. Lastly thanks to Garstang for turning out in force to line the procession route and congregate round the cenotaph for the ceremony and wreath laying. I was proud to represent the Town Council and people of Garstang.
In my career I have spoken at many conferences and events to audiences of several hundred people but for the first time ever, during my reading in church, I felt my leg shaking with nerves and emotion. I managed to carry on and finish and trust that nothing showed and I did the reading justice.
