Working together to get the best health care services for Fylde and Wyre
You may be aware that last summer I was approached by Great Eccleston Health Centre and Garstang Medical Practice who wished to join NHS Fylde and Wyre CCG.
I am pleased to report that following a lengthy and detailed due diligence process, the CCG has agreed to accept the two new practices. This means the CCG’s boundary will extend to incorporate the two extra practices and a population increase of 25,000 patients.
Both Greater Preston CCG and Morecambe Bay CCG have been fully engaged throughout this process and have agreed to the change through their own governance processes.
For some time, Over Wyre Medical Centre has been working with the two new practices to look at ways for improving services and health outcomes for rural communities. Rural communities face a number of unique issues due to the challenges of isolation and travel for patients and staff. By designing services around the challenges of rurality we will see much better outcomes for those living in rural Wyre.
The Garstang and Great Eccleston practices are known for their innovation, and so their joining the CCG will spread good practice across the Fylde coast.
The change will come into effect from 1 April 2018, although there will be a transition plan in place to bring the practices into Fylde and Wyre CCG.
