On Saturday 4th July I had the pleasure of presenting Charlie Collinson with a thank you card and gifts from all the Garstang Volunteers. We wanted to mark the occasion and show Charlie how much he was appreciated for setting up and running GVF. Garstang Volunteer Force was up and running by 23rd March with 172 people signed up to volunteer. I am proud as Mayor of Garstang, that Garstang Town Council contributed £200 to help GVF set up and on a personal basis for being an active volunteer each week as one of their call centre managers. 83 people were used in total from pack and pickers at the supermarkets, the teams that went out delivering the shopping and prescriptions, organising the rotas, our YMCA caretaker, call handlers and the office managers. Charlie however worked 7 days a week, week in, week out but always had a smile on his face and another story to tell! To catch up with Charlie’s message, please visit the Garstang Volunteer Force facebook page. Here are the final figures from the GVF:
Shopping delivered: 682
Cash transactions: 30
Chat buddies: 9
A massive well done to Charlie Collinson and EVERYONE involved with this initiative. A big thank you Kepple Lane & Wells Pharmacy, Aldi and Co-op. As Charlie said, there is not I in TEAM! Well done everyone.
